Probable starting eleven:
Genoa: Amelia; Papastathopoulos, Dainelli, Bocchetti; Rosi, Milanetto, Juric, Moretti; Palladino, Suazo, Sculli
Chievo: Sorrentino; Sardo, Mandelli, Yepes, Mantovani; Luciano, Iori, Marcolini; Pinzi; Abbruscato, Pellissier
I think that Chievo won't loose at Genoa. Genoa is the favorite, playing in front of their own fans, but we can not underestimate Chievo. Currently Chievo is in a series of three meetings without a defeat. And opponents were not naive. Among them was even Juventus and Chievo managed to win against Juventus with result 1:0. Here are the results:
31. 01. Chievo - Bologna 1:1 (0:1)
24. 01. Lazio - Chievo 1:1 (1:0)
17. 01. Chievo - Juventus 1:0 (1:0)
Genoa on the other hand is far from last year's form when fighting for place in UEFA Champions League. It appears that the president Preziosi made a mistake when he sold his two best players - Milito and Mota. For today's match Genoa will be weakened as Houssine Kharja is injured and Domenico Criscito is suspended.
Finally to mention that Genoa is traditionally having difficulties when playing with Chievo. Only one victory so far in five meetings. Even in the first game this season in Verona Chievo won 3-1. Here are the mutual results:
2008/09 ITA 1 Genoa - Chievo 2:2
2008/09 ITA 1 Chievo - Genoa 0:1
2000/01 ITA 2 Genoa - Chievo 0:1
2000/01 ITA 2 Chievo - Genoa 1:0
As conclusion, maybe Genoa is a small favorite in this game because they are playing at their own stadium. But Chievo is a weird team that play equally at home and away. Until now Chievo have 15 points as the host and only one less as guest. So I think Chievo is able to stay unbeaten in Genoa. Posted on Feb-07-2010 at 11:24 CET |
