Paddy Power make Barcelona slight favourites at 6/4 ahead of their first leg crunch tie with Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey at the Bernabeu.
Ahead of facing rivals Barcelona in the first-leg of the Copa Del Rey quarter-final this evening, Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has hit out at his critics.
Clearly in a rather aggressive mood, the former Chelsea manager questioned what he has to achieve in order to get some credit from the media.
Speaking ahead of the latest meeting with Barcelona, the Madrid boss said: “How many titles do I have to win in order to avoid being questioned for what I do? Tell me what I have to do to satisfy you.”
“If I field Karim Benzema as my striker, you all ask about Gonzalo Higuain, but if he plays, you want to know why Benzema is out.”
“If I play Pepe in midfield, you all stress he’s better at the back, but if he plays in defence, you suggest I use him in midfield.”
Barcelona boss Pep Guardolia meanwhile has revealed that he is extremely wary of Real Madrid, even if his team came away from the Bernabeu with three points last month.
The Spaniard said: “Going to the Bernabeu we must be wise to get through. The only way to get a result and have the tie alive is to go to win the game.”
“Madrid are the strongest opponents that we can find. Against Madrid you cannot feel a favourite. In sport there are no precedents. It matters what you do at the time.”
It is certainly expected to be another close battle between these two famous clubs.
Even though the Copa Del Rey isn’t as important as the league, both teams want as much silverware as possible and will not want a defeat against their rivals to take into the next few weeks.
With the first-leg taking place this evening, the second-leg takes place at the Nou Camp on the 25th January, so we are set for two epic El Clasico battles in quick succession.
